Maryland Health Connection Open Enrollment Opens Sunday, November 1, for 2027 Coverage (Washington Sentinel News)

Open enrollment for 2027 health coverage through Maryland Health Connection begins Sunday, November 1 and runs through January 15, 2027, according to Montgomery County's enrollment page. Marylanders apply online at MarylandHealthConnection.gov, and the marketplace call center is available at 1-855-642-8572, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Enrollments completed by December 31, 2026 will take effect January 1, 2027, according to healthinsurance.org's Maryland marketplace guide. Five insurers offer plans through the marketplace, including two CareFirst entities. Outside the open enrollment window, residents generally need a qualifying life event - such as losing coverage, getting married or moving - to enroll or change plans.

Comparing plans matters more than usual this year. Unsubsidized premiums in Maryland rise an average of 14.6 percent for 2027 after state regulators approved new rates, the Maryland Insurance Administration announced on September 25, Medical Daily reported. About 70 percent of Maryland Health Connection users receive a premium subsidy, so households are advised to update their income information and compare options rather than simply auto-renewing last year's plan.
