DC Leaf Collection Starts Monday, November 2, and Section A Residents Should Rake Leaves Out by Sunday
The District's leaf collection season begins Monday, November 2 and runs through February, with Department of Public Works crews starting in Section A - where residents are asked to rake their leaves out by Sunday, November 1.

Leaf collection season is about to begin in the District. Beginning Monday, November 2 and continuing through February, Department of Public Works leaf crews will service residential streets that receive DPW trash and recycling collection, the District government said in a bulletin to residents.
Crews will start in Section A, the bulletin said, so residents in Section A should rake their leaves out by Sunday, November 1 to be ready for the first pass. The annual collection is the city's main service for clearing the fall leaf fall from residential streets without residents having to bag every leaf themselves.
Residents outside Section A will be served as the crews work through the collection sections over the season, which runs through February. Homeowners raking this weekend are doing so on a dry, mild Halloween weekend in the District, ahead of the Sunday start of standard time.
