MPD Makes an Arrest in the Atlantic Street Shooting: a Suspect Fired at a Victim in Southeast and Missed
Police say the suspect approached the victim in the 300 block of Atlantic Street, Southeast, at about 3:55 a.m. on August 29, brandished a handgun and fired before fleeing; the victim was not injured. On October 27, officers arrested 27-year-old Ashley Ray of Southeast on a Superior Court warrant, charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (gun).

A shooting in Southeast Washington that injured no one now has an arrest attached to it. The Metropolitan Police Department said the suspect approached the victim in the 300 block of Atlantic Street, Southeast, at approximately 3:55 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, brandished a handgun, fired at the victim, and then fled the scene. The victim was not injured, the department said.
On Tuesday, October 27, pursuant to a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant, officers arrested 27-year-old Ashley Ray of Southeast, D.C., and charged her with assault with a dangerous weapon (gun). The department's release gives the charge and the warrant as the whole of the public record so far; it does not describe what connected the August shooting to the October arrest, and no further court information was included in the release. The case is filed under CCN 26122117.
The release is the second arrest file the desk took from the department's list on Sunday evening, and the two cases bookend the beat's range: a marketplace robbery in Northeast in which a 12-year-old was charged, covered separately in this cycle, and a shots-fired case in Southeast that stayed an open warrant for nearly two months. In both, the department's account is the confirmed record - and in the Atlantic Street case, the confirmed record ends, for now, at the arrest.
