Washington DC Election Week Weather: Dry and Warm for Tuesday's Vote, Then Rain Chances Near 50% Thursday and Friday
The capital region's election week splits in two: an overcast, cool Sunday and Monday give way to a dry, warm Election Day near 71 - before rain chances climb to 47% Thursday and 48% Friday.

Washington started Sunday under the same grey blanket that followed the clocks falling back. The station's live weather feed read 51.4 degrees and overcast in the morning, on the way to a Sunday high near 63 with only a 1 percent chance of precipitation. Monday stays overcast and cool, with a high near 63 and a low of 43 - the coldest night of the week.
Election Day itself is the week's pick day for voters walking to the polls. Tuesday turns dry and warm, with a high of 70.8 degrees, a low near 52 and a precipitation chance of zero in the current feed. Wednesday is warmer still at 74.5 degrees, still essentially dry at a 4 percent rain chance - the last fully settled day of the stretch.
The pattern breaks late in the week. Thursday brings a chance of drizzle and rain at 47 percent, with a high of 74 but a much milder night, the low only falling to 61.5. Friday turns showery - the feed's rain-shower code - with a high of 66.1 and a 48 percent precipitation chance, before Saturday settles back to 67 degrees with rain chances easing to 22 percent. Voters, in short, get the good half of the week; the rain waits until the ballots are counted.
