Early voting is under way in the District ahead of the Tuesday, November 3 general election. Twenty-five Early Vote Centers opened on Monday, October 26 and will operate daily from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Sunday, November 1, according to the District of Columbia Board of Elections. Voters may vote at any Early Vote Center, regardless of their residential address.

On Election Day, the Board of Elections will operate 75 vote centers across the District, open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. District residents will select a new mayor for the first time in 12 years, following Mayor Muriel Bowser's decision not to seek reelection, and a new delegate to Congress for the first time in 35 years, following the retirement of Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton, FOX 5 DC reported. Janeese Lewis George, who won the Democratic primary for mayor, faces independent Rhonda Hamilton and Statehood Green Party candidate Robert L. Gross.

Voters will also decide contests for the D.C. Council, including council chair, an at-large seat, and Wards 1, 3, 5 and 6, along with the D.C. attorney general and shadow representatives to Congress, FOX 5 DC reported. Every registered voter in the District has received a ballot in the mail, which can be returned by mail if postmarked by November 3 or placed in a drop box by 8 p.m. on Election Day, according to the ACLU of DC.

The District also offers same-day registration: residents who claimed residency in the District on or before October 4, 2026 can register at any early voting center or at the polls on Election Day and then vote, the ACLU of DC said. Wait times and locations for Early Vote Centers are posted by the Board of Elections at earlyvoting.dcboe.org.
