Metro Weekend Track Work Affects All Lines, With Buses Replacing Trains Between Eastern Market and Minnesota Avenue
WMATA is warning riders to plan ahead this weekend: free shuttle buses replace Blue and Orange line trains east of Eastern Market, the Silver Line runs only to Federal Center SW, and Red, Green and Yellow line trains single-track, according to Metro.

Metro is reminding customers to plan ahead if traveling on Metrorail this weekend, with track work affecting all lines, WMATA said. On the Blue and Orange lines, aerial structure repairs near Stadium Armory will continue, and buses will replace trains between Eastern Market and Minnesota Avenue/Benning Road. Silver Line service will run between Ashburn and Federal Center SW only, and customers can transfer to the Blue and Orange lines to continue their trip.
Free shuttle buses replace Orange Line trains between Eastern Market and Minnesota Avenue and Blue Line trains between Eastern Market and Benning Road, with Potomac Avenue and Stadium-Armory stations closed, according to WMATA. Trains on the rest of those lines run every 12 minutes in the daytime and 15 minutes in the evening, and Silver Line trains run on the same daytime and evening spacing to Federal Center SW.
On the Red, Yellow and Green lines, Metro will perform fastener and rail renewal and joint elimination. Red Line trains will single-track between Medical Center and Grosvenor, running every 10 minutes between Friendship Heights and Glenmont and every 20 minutes between Friendship Heights and Shady Grove. Green and Yellow line trains will single-track between Mt. Vernon Square and L'Enfant Plaza, running every 20 minutes on both lines, WMATA said. Metro's customer service team is available on weekends from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and riders can call 202-637-7000 for automated information at any hour.
