Virginia Voters Get Their Final Early Voting Day Saturday, While Maryland's Early Window Has Closed (Washington Sentinel News)

Saturday, October 31 is the final day of in-person early voting in Virginia, closing a window that opened on September 18 and ends at 5 p.m., according to the general election information compiled for the region. Northern Virginia voters in Arlington, Alexandria and Fairfax County who want to vote before Tuesday have this last Saturday to do it in person.

The early turnout on both sides of the Potomac has been heavy. More than 1 million ballots have already been cast in Virginia and more than 480,000 in Maryland, according to the University of Florida Election Lab figures reported by FOX 5 DC. Maryland's in-person early voting ran from October 22 through Thursday, October 29, so Maryland voters in Montgomery and Prince George's Counties who have not yet voted will vote on Election Day or by mail ballot under Maryland's deadlines.

All three jurisdictions vote on the same Election Day, Tuesday, November 3. For the suburbs, Saturday is therefore two different kinds of day at once: a last chance to vote early in Virginia, and the start of a wait until Tuesday in Maryland.
