A Full Sunday on the Mall: The National Gallery of Art Pairs a Dover Quartet Performance With Tours, a Film and a Bead Workshop (Washington Sentinel News)

The National Gallery of Art fills Sunday, November 1, with programs in both buildings. The day opens at noon in the East Building's Large Auditorium with Finding Ecstasy, a talk pairing author Ivy Pochoda with Artemisia Gentileschi's Mary Magdalene in Ecstasy; registration is required, and the talk is also offered as a hybrid program. At the same hour, the hands-on Bison Bead Workshop begins and runs until 3 p.m. with no registration required.

Guided tours step off through the afternoon: American Art at 1 p.m. from the West Building Rotunda, Understanding Modern and Contemporary Art at 2 p.m. in the East Building Atrium, Sculpture Garden Tours at 2 p.m., and Impressionism and 19th-Century France at 3 p.m. back in the West Building. The film Powwow People screens in the East Building auditorium from 2:00 to 3:45 p.m., with registration required.

The day closes with music. The Dover Quartet performs in the West Building's West Garden Court from 3:00 to 4:15 p.m., and no registration is required. All of Sunday's programs sit inside the Gallery's regular hours on the National Mall, between the Capitol and the Washington Monument, and the museum's exhibitions - including Back and Forth, Nocturnes and the ongoing Alexander Calder and Barnett Newman presentations - remain on view around the scheduled events.
