Takoma Park Votes Separately on Tuesday: Mayor Searcy Faces Gagliardo, and Three Council Wards Are Contested
The city election does not appear on the Montgomery County ballot. Takoma Park residents who already requested one can vote by mail, or vote in person from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Takoma Park Community Center at 7500 Maple Avenue.

Takoma Park runs its own election on Tuesday, on its own ballot. Residents will choose their mayor and council members in the city election: current Mayor Talisha Searcy faces a challenge from former city attorney Tom Gagliardo, The Banner reported in its Montgomery County election guide, read in full this run. The city races sit alongside - but separate from - the county, congressional and statewide contests the rest of Montgomery County votes on the same day.
Three of the city's council wards have contested races, and two of them are open seats. In Ward 1, Doug Glynn and Shana Fulcher are seeking the seat now held by Jessica Landman, who is not seeking reelection. In Ward 2, Jim Della-Giacoma and Suzy Stimler hope to fill the seat held by Cindy Dyballa, who is also not running again. In Ward 6, Ambroise Agosse is running to unseat incumbent Amy Wesolek.
The practical point for Takoma Park voters is the ballot itself: these races will not appear on the Montgomery County ballot. Residents can vote by mail if they have already requested a ballot, or in person from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Takoma Park Community Center, at 7500 Maple Avenue - the same 7-to-8 hours as the county's polling places across Montgomery County.
