No School Monday or Tuesday for DCPS and Montgomery County Students as the Term Ends and Election Day Arrives
DC Public Schools students have no classes on Monday, November 2 or Tuesday, November 3. In Montgomery County, students are off Monday for grading and planning at the end of the term, and schools and offices close Tuesday for Election Day.

For families across the District and the Maryland suburbs, the school week starts on Wednesday. DC Public Schools students have no classes on Monday, November 2 or Tuesday, November 3, according to the district's 2026-27 school year calendar. Counting Friday, October 30 - a professional development and end-of-term day with no school for students - and the weekend in between, DCPS students have five consecutive days without classes, from Friday, October 30 through Tuesday, November 3.
Montgomery County Public Schools runs on a parallel schedule with different reasons on each day. The district's own reminder puts it plainly: there is no school for students on Monday, November 2, due to grading and planning for the end of the term, and schools and offices will be closed on Tuesday, November 3, for Election Day.
Tuesday's closure is the region's Election Day, when the District chooses a mayor and a delegate and the Maryland suburbs choose county executives, councils and school boards. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in both jurisdictions - the DC Board of Elections lists its Election Day Vote Centers at those hours - so for parents, the two no-school days are also the two days to plan around: childcare on Monday and Tuesday, and a voting trip that fits somewhere inside them.
