Two Teenagers Arrested After a 15-Year-Old Was Shot Near Union Station, Police Say
MPD says First District officers answered a shooting call at about 4:10 p.m. Friday in the unit block of Massachusetts Avenue NE, found a 15-year-old wounded, and - with Capitol Police stopping two suspects near the scene - arrested two teenagers on assault charges.

Two teenagers are under arrest after a daytime shooting just outside Union Station left a 15-year-old boy wounded, the Metropolitan Police Department said. First District officers responded at around 4:10 p.m. on Friday to reports of a shooting in the unit block of Massachusetts Avenue NE, the corridor that runs past the station toward North Capitol Street, inside the broader Capitol security footprint.
"A 15-year-old juvenile male was located conscious and breathing suffering from a gunshot wound," MPD said in a statement. DC Fire and EMS transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
US Capitol Police officers who responded to the area stopped two suspects near the scene, according to police. "As a result of the investigation by MPD detectives, both suspects were placed under arrest," the department said. The two arrested are a 17-year-old juvenile male from Northeast DC and a 16-year-old juvenile male from Southeast DC, each charged with assault with a dangerous weapon; police did not release their names. An MPD K-9 officer later located a firearm near the scene.
The case remains under investigation, police said. The shooting is the latest in a series of incidents involving teenagers that the department has handled around the station and the downtown core this fall, and it arrived on a Friday afternoon at one of the busiest transit corners in the capital, a few blocks from the US Capitol.
