Washington DC Election Day Weather: 46 and Clear Before Dawn, Fog on the Day's Code, High Near 70 (Washington Sentinel News)

Election Day opens cold in the capital. The station's live weather feed read 46.1 degrees and clear before dawn, feeling like 44.1, on the way up from a low of 44.3 — a dry, sharp start for the poll workers who open the region's voting places at 6 and 7 a.m.

The day itself needs a careful read. Tuesday is coded fog (code 45) on this early feed, with a high of 69.5 and a precipitation chance of just 2 percent — a change from the pre-midnight feed, which had cleared Tuesday to mainly clear before putting fog back on the day in the small hours. Either way the voting weather is dry: no rain is in Tuesday's numbers at any reading.

Wednesday repeats the pattern — fog again, a high of 71.6 and a 2 percent rain chance — before the week's warm peak arrives Thursday at 79 degrees with a mild low of 64.4, light drizzle and a 41 percent precipitation chance. Friday is the wet day: drizzle, a high of 68.8 and the week's highest precipitation chance at 70 percent.

The weekend resets cooler: Saturday is mainly clear at 57, Sunday is overcast at 59.6, and Monday is overcast at 56. The Weather Desk keeps the /weather page true against this same live feed, and the next file updates the picture as the count comes in tonight.
